LGBT+ Resources Heading to Clovis Farmers Market
For the first time ever, LGBT+ resources are making their way to the Old Town Clovis Farmers Market. Identified as a highly conservative community, Clovis has not had the best reputation for LGBT+ acceptance. MY LGBT PLUS is taking a step in breaking that mold.
Organizers of the farmers market have invited MY LGBT PLUS to be a part of this weekly event that draws hundreds to Old Town Clovis. We will have a booth on August 5 from 5:00 - 9:00 PM. Seeing the need for more visibility of our LGBT+ community, they are excited for us to showcase resources available to all people. Currently, multiple church groups join business, food and produce as vendors.
"Our mission here at MY LGBT PLUS is to continually connect, interact with and support the community at large," says Justin Kamimoto, founder of MY LGBT PLUS. "To have the best effects, we focus on out-of-the-norm outreach, and the farmers market fits perfectly within our vision of an interconnected community."
The MY LGBT PLUS booth will feature resources of other community organizations currently providing resources to the LGBT+ community including:
- WestCare California/The Living Room
- The Trevor Project
- The Source LGBT+ Center
- Fresno LGBT Community Center
- Fresno County Department of Public Health
- Centro La Familia
- Pink Panthers Movement of Fresno
- PFLAG Fresno
With hundreds of people attending every month, we are taking a stand to raise visibility for our LGBT+ community. No matter the outcome, MY LGBT PLUS believes that if we can reach one person needing access to resources, we have done our part.
