CALIFORNIA ARTS ACADEMY PRESENTS “A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM,” AN ORIGINAL STORY BALLET AT WARNORS THEATER
Fresno, CA – California Arts Academy presents Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in an original story ballet format. There are total five shows (including a school show) being performed between April 24 – April 26 at the Warnors Center for The Performing Arts (1400 Fulton Street).
Our dancers bring to life Shakespeare's gripping comedy. A Midsummer Night's Dream is a story about love lost and gained through a magical summer night. The theme of love is explored through comical events and characters as a royal wedding looms in the backdrop. Let the fairy kings, queens and Indian princes take you on a magical journey. The story only becomes more exuberant and lively when performed as a story ballet.
There are over 100 excellent Central Valley dancers who come together to bring to life this timeless comedy. Daniel Chavez Jr, a Broadway trained theater artist and the artistic director of California Arts Academy, directs this Ballet theater. Margaret Hord is the assistant director. The play is produced following a long 40 year old tradition of producing Garden Ballet. The play is performed in complete dance format without any spoken words. However, there are many styles of dance, such as Jazz, Irish, Contemporary that are used for the play, along with Ballet.
Tickets for this event are priced at $16 for adults and $12 for children and seniors. However, if bought in a group of 10 the tickets are $14 and $10, respectively. For the School Show on Friday (April 24th) at 10am, the tickets are priced at $6 (if bought in a quantity of 10 or more) to encourage more school-goers to attend. The tickets may be purchased through the Brown Paper Tickets website: gardenballet2015.brownpapertickets.com or at the door.
